Human violence toward each other and other species is a recipe for disaster. Wet markets have all forms of transmission. The blood, the air, flesh eating. Covid is the virus but the disease is capitalism, which creates a hierarchy that some are more important than others. It did not take long for wet markets to reopen, including those in the USA, as they profit a few at the expense of many. Slaughterhouses are not essential, animal agriculture is not essential. Democracy for all, life before profit, is essential. Arts' very existence represents hope. It requires a viewer, if not of the present, then a future where there are viewers. Autocratic bullies and proto-fascists despise creativity, it represents the life of a mind they cannot control. The wealthy are in their self containment bubble, but they are not as safe as they think. Economics is the crime and the time is soon. —Sue Coe, 2020
